Davao City – Arc Nickel Resources, Inc. (ANRI) is the Operator of Riverbend Consolidated Mining Corp. (RCMC) under Mineral Production Sharing Agreement No. 263-2008-XI (Amended I) B, which authorized both companies to extract for commercial disposition of the nickel laterite ore deposits found within the contract area located in Banaybanay, Davao Oriental.

On March 2, 2022, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Central Office issued a Memorandum titled, “Clearance to Lift Cease and Desist Order Issued to Riverbend Consolidated Mining Corporation/Arc Nickel Resources, Inc.” Accordingly, on March 4, 2022, the MGB Regional Office No. XI issued an Order allowing RCMC/ANRI to resume with the implementation of the approved Three-Year Development/Utilization Work Program, with an approved revision on March 3, 2022, subject to the full compliance with the conditions imposed therein and the pending resolution of the administrative case of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) Pollution Adjudication Board and its lifting of the issued Cease and Desist Order.

Further, RCMC/ANRI has fully complied with their short-term commitments in their approved Corrective Measures Program to address the siltation incident that occurred last January 14, 2022. RCMC/ANRI is also continuously complying with their long-term commitments.

Last June 15, 2022, an Adopt-A-River Program of ANRI in the Pintatagan and Maputi Rivers was conducted and participated by DENR XI agencies. Together with the residents of both localities, the Program aims to improve the environmental quality of both rivers and continue the fruitful collaboration of the companies and its host communities. To date, continuous monitoring by the concerned government agencies are conducted to ensure the compliance of RCMC/ANRI on these programs.
