The mining sector will join in the two million Mindanaowide simultaneous tree planting that aims to beat India’s world record for having planted 1,700,000 seedlings in one hour. The Mindanaowide, covering 6 regions, simultaneous tree planting, dubbed Treevolution, will take place this coming September 26 to be headed by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

The Treevolution tree planting movement follows the National Greening Program (NGP) concept of the national government which aims to plant trees all over the country as a way of regreening and rehabilitating the environment. The NGP has been running for four years now and is considered a way of showing the government’s concern for the environment.  The mining companies aside from its commitment to participate in the NGP efforts of the government also committed to join in the coming 2 million Mindanaowide simultaneous tree planting.
