The Mines and Geosciences Bureau-RXI (MGB-RXI) is conducting series of information dissemination meetings with the local government units on geohazard. The main objective is for the municipalities to highlight the importance of disaster risk reduction management plans and programs at the municipality level and awareness and appreciation of disaster risk reduction preparedness at the barangay level.
For the last three years, the MGB-RXI has been working on the 1:10K scale landslide and flooding geohazard maps of the different municipalities of the region. The said maps has already been reflected at the MGB-RXI website for easy public access. Geohazard mapping has been one of MGB’s main concerns as one of the government’s way of addressing climate change.

MGB RXI has already provided the municipalities assessment report of the landslide and flood susceptibility of the municipality and also other information materials. In addition to this, MGB RXI has also conducted assessment and identified relocation sites for municipalities with areas rated as high risk to landslide and flooding. This year some of the municipalities which the MGB RXI conducted IEC with the legislative bodies and barangay captains include Sta. Cruz, Malalag, Sulop, Don Marcelino, Maragusan, Tagum, Asuncion, Laak, Carmen, among others.
