The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) RXI) awarded the dredging contracts to accredited dredging operators for the Naboc River dredging project located in Monkayo, Davao de Oro.

The rehabilitation of the Naboc River is part of the priority programs of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. The Naboc River project has been planned to be implemented for years now. It was officially launched during the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, other national government agencies, and the provincial government of Davao de Oro in July 2019 covering mostly the desilting and quarrying of the 24-kilometer stretch of Naboc River.

“The rehabilitation of Naboc River is among my priority programs,” DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu was cited as saying during the signing ceremony held at the DENR-Davao Region office in Davao City.

Other agencies involved in the rehabilitation program are the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). The awarding of the dredging project jump-starts the desilting, quarrying and overall rehabilitation of the river.

DENR Regional Executive Director and Assistant Secretary for Field Operations -Eastern Mindanao Ruth M. Tawantawan together with Governor Tyron Gov. Jayvee Tyron Uy lead in the awarding of the dredging contracts to six accredited dredging operators for the desilting and quarrying of the Naboc River in Monkayo.
